Nowadays, when you attend a talent show, the scene is saturated with young artists hoping to succeed. But there is one problem you may have noticed. The older generation is not equally prominently represented. But now, The Voice is stepping up a gear in earning a talent show specifically and exclusively for seniors.
To qualify for “The Voice Senior,” a contestant must be at least 60 years old. Lately, the world was introduced to Rene Bishop, a 71-year-old whose silky-smooth voice took the competition by storm when he went wild with a jaw-dropping rendition of “Unchained Melody.”
It’s amazing how much like Elvis he looks.․․every member of the jury turned around at once. Rene’s voice is powerful, yet soft with a rare quality that is simply impossible to ignore. Then he judged that famous average score perfectly and all of them pressed their buttons. “Amazed” is the best word to describe the faces of the judges as soon as they turn around to see the face of this extraordinary talent. His presence was brilliant on stage. The judges were clearly in awe of the sound of Rene’s voice.
I am thrilled that this man finally has the chance to sing for the world. Online, the response to this senior’s incredible performance was phenomenal and the live comments immediately started rolling in: “This guy has a voice that’s as smooth as silk,” one fan said. Another noteworthy comment was, “I would have turned around much sooner.” A fabulous voice…brought tears to my eyes. It’s amazing how much it looks like Elvis.
